“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

Rotaract Fellowship Visits are an attempt by Rotaract in Rotary International District 3220 to strengthen the beautiful bonds of friendship while fostering unity and appreciation for diversity among our Rotaract family, spread across all parts of our District. As the third visit for this year, an exciting journey to the historical city of Kandy took place, covering the Installation Ceremonies of the Rotaract Clubs of Senkadagala, University of Peradeniya, and Kandy on 10th and 11th December 2022.

Rotaractors from all the zones left their places in the morning to reach their destinations. After having breakfast in the morning directly we went to participate in the Charter Installation Ceremony of Rotaract Club of Senkadagala which was held at District Secretariat Auditorium, Kandy. After that we reached our accommodation for the two days, Hotel Royal Kandyan. Since everyone was in a huge hunger our first task was to have lunch, then room allocation was announced and everyone checked in their rooms with the hope of getting ready for the next installation ceremony after a rest.

1st Installation Ceremony to attend in the evening was the Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya which was held at the Engineering Faculty of the University of Peradeniya. Amidst the rain and the mist, everyone enjoyed the beautiful view of the University. After that Installation Ceremony, we departed to participate in the Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of Kandy which was held at Oak Ray Regency. The Installation Ceremony was followed by a DJ night and a dinner which was kind of an icebreaker for everyone. Everyone enjoyed a lot by dancing and having koththu and hoppers for dinner.

The next day in the morning after having breakfast at Hotel Royal Kandyan, the pool session was open for all until we were checked out from our rooms at 11.00 AM. After checking out, we took some group photos in the lobby of the hotel.

Then we started our city visit officially. The first place to reach was the Kandy viewpoint from where we could see the whole city in a beautiful view. We didn’t forget to capture a group picture there. Then we walked using a few shortcuts to reach Kandy City Center where we had fun for a few hours with delicious food from the food court, ice cream from Pallar, and a roller coaster ride. After having fun there, everyone got into the buses to depart from Kandy to reach our destination, Colombo.

After a few hours, we could reach Colombo. Everyone was so happy that they joined the visit since it had so many memories to cherish. So it was the end of another memorable fellowship visit for the RI year 2022-23.
