Rotaract is a global youth organization. Amongst the many avenues that Rotaract works International Services have a significant value as it covers global harmony. Through International Services, Rotaract Club of University Alumni (RCUA), focuses on the advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of unique persons among different countries in the ideal of service. The first International Service project “Beyond Borders” for the year 2019/2020 of Rotaract Club of University Alumni was conducted in five phases during the last couple of weeks with the aim of spreading love and friendship.

As the first phase, the General Meeting for the month of August was held on the 2nd of August 2019 at Royal College Union Skills Centre. The General Meeting was held as the welcoming ceremony of the Assistant District Rotaract Representative and other Rotaractors of Taiwan. During the ceremony, President, Secretary and the committee members of Rotaract Club of University Alumni exchange flags of two countries, tokens and letterheads with them. Also, the planning for the next projects which will be done together was happened on that day.

“Color Your Dreams” project was the second phase of the “Beyond Borders” project. Rotaractors of RAC University Alumni and the Rotaractors from Taiwan spent quality time with elders at Grace Perera Elderly Home. Rotaractors had fun by singing songs with elders and provided healthy foods for the elders in the home. Also, Interactors from Ananda College and RAC Excellence joined with us to make this project a success. 

During the phase three of “Beyond Borders” project which was conducted on 9th August, Rotaractors of RAC University Alumni and Rotaractors from Taiwan went to several religious places and worshiped them. During the project named as “Shalom” Rotaractors went to St.Mary’s Church Bambalapitiya, Kovil Wellawatta and Sri Wajirarama Temple Bambalapitiya and performed religious activities. 

As the phase four of “Beyond Borders” project, the “Taste of Success” project was conducted where the Taiwanese Rotaractors and members of RAC University Alumni had lunch with Members of the Rotary Club of Colombo Metropolitan at Colombo Swimming Club. 

“Better Tomorrow” was the fifth phase of the project “Beyond Borders” where the Members of RAC University Alumni and Rotaractors from Taiwan joined together for a beach cleanup project. Interactors from Ananda College and RAC Excellence also joined hands for this project as well. The project was conducted at Wellawatte Beach during the evening half on 9th August 2019.

Taiwanese Rotaractors engaged with 5 projects of RAC University Alumni throughout a week. At the end of all the projects there were tears in everyone’s eyes as it’s time to say goodbye. They were very happy about all the projects and they expressed their heartfelt gratitude to us for organizing Beyond Borders project. Project Beyond Borders wrapped up successfully redefining friendships because FRIENDSHIP KNOWS NO BORDERS.
